The curriculum in Key Stage 4 enables all pupils to have the opportunity to achieve external accreditation at the end of the Key Stage. This runs alongside learning opportunities to continue to access the National Curriculum Programmes of Study, the Literacy and Numeracy Frameworks and Letters and Sounds at an appropriate pupil level. Accreditations are completed throughout the Key Stage and include Entry Level Certificate English and Maths, Functional Skills in ICT, AQA Qualifications 1-3 in Technology and Art and Design and the OCR Young Enterprise Award. This provides opportunities for Work Related Learning and involves participating in an on-site mini enterprise. There is also a specific focus on preparing our students for transition to further education and for adult life, with a view to enabling them to live as independently as possible in the future.
Year 11 pupils complete the ASDAN PSD (Personal and Social Development) qualification which involves a framework of activities which support them in learning how to become confident individuals who are physically, emotionally and socially healthy. All Year 11 pupils also have a one day a week experience of studying in a college environment as part of their progression towards transition at Post -16.
The curriculum courses currently being studied as part of the college link are Catering, Construction and Floristry.
